For My Love No Charge
By: Msgr. Michael Heras September 21, 2003

Envy does horrible things to the human heart. Lets review again, envy is when you’re looking around at what everyone else has, what everyone else is enjoying and say: How come I can’t have that! How come I can’t have this? How come you don’t buy this for me mommy? How come you do this for me mommy? How come you don’t get this for me? And even worse How come that person has that and this person has this? And it is very, very sickening. Some of you that are raising teenagers know exactly what I’m talking about. You’ve given them everything they want. And it’s not enough is it? They still want more, and more and it’s never go enough.

Is That Cross From God
By: Msgr. Michael Heras September 14, 2003

Look at what God does for us, and it’s still not enough. When we hurt and we suffer, what do we say? Why me why do I have to go through this? Why am I suffering so horribly, what did I do? Instead of realizing what did God do? Which is why I want to call each and every one of us, my dear brothers and sisters. This is a crucial moment in our spiritual life. You and I are called today, to make our prayer life a priority. And why do I say that? Because my friends, I suspect that there are many of us suffering, carrying cross that don’t belong to God. I suspect that many of us are hurting and it’s not from Heaven.

Look At Your Hands
By: Msgr. Michael Heras August 17, 2003

Imagine the number of children he laid his hands on. Or raising the glass of wine, that was once water. And then my friends, imagine him taking bread and breaking it and saying the words that our Church has been repeating for the last two thousand years. This is my body this is my blood, do this in memory of me. Those beautiful hands were then whipped and scourged and tied and then run through with a nail. Bleeding suffocating dying for us. Those are His hands, they’re so awesome. Now the hard part of the sermon [pause] now look at your hands. Look at them! What have these hands done this week?

"You Bought Me...To Set Me Free"
By: Msgr. Michael Heras

We have been bought, so that we would be set free. Can you imagine that! Can you imagine for just a second, that you and I were slaves. Can you try to imagine what life would have been like without the possibility of going to heaven. What would life be worth-TELL ME! All the pain, all the heartache, all the disappointments, would it be worth.

"Make Time For Jesus"
By: Msgr. Michael Heras

And I know that God was there; and I knew that I saw Him and that he was not in the big thunder. He was not in the stones and the wind. He was in the quite whisper if a child who had buried his father the day before. And knew exactly what it means to keep going. Even though you can’t see. That’s the gospel today my friends, pure and simple. Where do you find God?

"Please Pray...Please Believe"
By: Msgr. Michael Heras July 2, 2003

I took a deep breath and I said to her Do you believe in Santa Clause? Do you believe in the tooth fairy? Do you believe in aliens from outer space? Do you believe? That I asked her the hardest question, what do you believe? And that’s when she started crying.

"Meals Are Included"
By: Msgr. Michael Heras

Corpus Christi... that Jesus would open his arms on the cross and said this is my body, and this is my blood. My brothers and sisters, you see, everyone has a hunger. Everyone wants to be loved everyone wants to be accepted everyone wants respects everyone wants shelter, family and security. There is a hunger in us, and is we don’t find the right food, we’ll eat anything

"Don’t Miss the Miracle"
By: Msgr. Michael Heras

The sixth chapter of John’s gospel is truly breathless. Because it lays the foundation for why you and I go to mass. We go to mass to receive the Eucharist. To receive the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus. The miracle of the multiplication of the loaves is helping us to understanding the miracle of the last supper.

"For the Truth...Press 7"
By: Msgr. Michael Heras

We say we love the truth! We say we want truth in advertising! We say we want our politicians to be up front! But isn’t it true that deep down inside us, there’s this immature want to be lied to. Not to be told the truth; not to be told how it is. Not to be leveled to be told to be leveled with. But to tell me what I want to hear. Tell me what makes me feel good. Tell me what everyone else is telling me. Tell me what I need to do to ease my conscience. Tell me what I want to hear so I won’t feel so bad so guilty so shameful about the things that I know deep down are wrong.

"How Do You Spell FATHER?"
By: Msgr. Michael Heras

Today is Father’s Day, for many of us it is a happy day, a glorious day. It is a day of graditude and thanks. But for some of us, it’s a sad day, it’s a painful day. I was genuenily surprised two weeks ago; I made a simple comment. Normally I get letters about homilies, comments made during homilies or certain stances that we take here. But I’ve never received so much painful response than I did when I made the simple observation that 2 to 1 more people offer masses for mothers than they do for fathers.

"Ephphatha - Be Open"
By: Msgr. Michael Heras

The Person with an open heart is usually a little happier, because they trust. And what the Lord calls us today, no matter what we’re facing in our world today my friends. No matter what is facing us today, we must trust. I submit to you this morning, that when he says, be open, be open is about making an awesome, radical choice to trust God. Just like a child does, all our heart, an open heart.

"Poor me, I’m the Victim"
By: Msgr. Michael Heras

Jesus is our only hope. Nobody here is perfect nobody here has perfect parents no one had a perfect upbringing. Nobody can say that they are without issues. And yet, sometimes we hold on, and play the record in the mind over, and over, and over again. Playing the ppor me, I’m the victim. My brothers and sisters, because of Jesus Christ and what he did on the cross you and I are not victims. WE ARE SURVIVORS!

"Why Didn’t They Get It?"
By: Msgr. Michael Heras

My dear brothers and sisters, in front of us once again, is the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus the Eucharist. And you might be thinking to yourself, after hearing the gospel. Everyone saw Jesus, everybody was there they saw him do the miracles, and knew what he had done! Why didn’t they get it? WHY DIDN’T THEY GET IT?
